A major focus is in the ambulatory care setting with some inpatient acute pain responsibilities. Pain practice areas include chronic noncancer pain (clinical monitoring, including pharmacogenetics, urine drug screens, serum analysis), palliative care, physiatry, anesthesia, behavior health & psychopharmacology, infectious disease, rheumatology, neurology, nephrology, emergency medicine, academia, scholarly activity (publications/research), and other options. There is ample opportunity for local, sate, regional, and national platform and/or poster presentations.
We recently underwent a site visit for accreditation while in our second year. The program has expanded and flourished with expectations of full accreditation in 2015. Please see our Stratton VA Medical Center PGY2 Pain & Palliative Care Residency Manual.
