Seretonin Syndrome

Is there a lab test for seretonin levels? I am Rx’d Nucynta ER. I am suffering from depression and feel an antidepressant is needed. If seretonin syndrome is a risk, are there any other options to treat depression?

Thank you!

Nucynta has almost no serotonin activity and is commonly used in patients that are receiving SSRIs.  Yes, there are other options:
Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) is an norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor.
Bupropion is a dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor.
